About Me
My name is Tim Jarrett and I'm a web developer based out of Baltimore, Maryland. I have nearly six years of experience developing secure, cross browser compatible, web-based applications using various technologies. In particular, I am a web development wizard with Linux/Unix/Solaris, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (aka The LAMP stack) and a ninja with Javascript/AJAX and CSS. I am also familiar with C#, ASP, Java, etc.In addition to my freelance and full time work, I have several experimental and open source projects that I'm working on. The most famous of which is probably my greasemonkey script Gmail Signature Float, which rewrites parts of gmail to make several improvements to the way signatures are handled. In particular, Gmail Signature Float moves your signature above any quoted response when replying to an email, allows HTML to be added to your signature, and removes the annoying dashes that gmail puts above the signature.
I have also recently implemented a clone of Facebook's "Compose To" contact hinting. I call it SearchList. It's useful for replacing select boxes that have hundreds of options in them. Instead, you provide what looks like an input text field, and as users type into the box, options are displayed below it.
For examples of some of my work, please see my portfolio page.
There are several more interesting projects that are on going, to see more, please check out my Labs page.
Finally, I'm working on my Master's of Science in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University.
